Using the charisms of the Holy Spirit for prayer

My heart wept with love for Sandy as I started to pray for God’s healing over her life. Along with some serious health issues, she alternately did not believe in God or had anger towards him for the circumstances of her life. There was a deep groaning which God meant for me to hear and pray for, but I had mistaken it at first.
The Apostle Paul says, “We know that all creation is groaning in labor pains even until now; and not only that, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, we also groan within ourselves as we wait for adoption, the redemption of our bodies” (Rom. 8:30 ).
Intercessors are called to pray for what is on the heart of God:
1. For all creation;
2. For redemption for ourselves and others

It is the extension of Christ’s Redemption that causes the intensity of this groaning. As intercessors we must attend to this groaning. We can get mislead and off-track by confusing the true groaning with our own angst, if we do not also attend to the gifts of the Holy Spirit in prayer. read more...

How a Resurrection mystery can bring deliverance to your life

Christ’s Resurrection from the dead we celebrate for 50 days, until the Day of Pentecost – the Global Day of Prayer. For we who are Christian believers, it is our Passover Feast – a passing over from all that is dead to what has life in God. Aspects of ourselves are often imprisoned in the tomb of death.
-Are there things that are meant to be holy that are trapped in hell?-Healthy and positive feelings toward those you should love, but can't express;-Talents and abilities that are suffocated;-Callings you don't dare to pursue.
Are there unholy things that keep part of you in hell?
-Old resentments, pain and hurt that try to come into the light for healing, but are beaten back into the tomb by fear, by un-healthy, unholy habits or addictions;
-Memories of traumatic experiences, never resolved, that keep recurring and coming up from an abyss of pain;
-Attitudes and ways of thinking that bring sentiments of shame and/or hopelessness.
These are all “places” of hell within and around that keep us from seeing God more fully in our lives. They impede us from living in his presence and doing what he has purposed for us. Christ’s descent into hell, more than just an article of faith, is an affirmation of the mighty power he has to reach those parts of us that we cannot reach ourselves. There is nothing that irks people like getting their names wrong. Embarrassment, frustration, even anger are the emotions that often flow through an awkward situation. It is important and empowering when you realize that your name has a literal meaning – as most names do. We often identify with the meaning of our names. a lifetime memory

When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together. And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were. Acts 2:1-2

The Gathering

As the disciples of Jesus did 2000 years ago, those of us called to Cenacle West gathered at the Holy Spirit House on Pentecost weekend of this year. We waited in anticipation as if for the same the driving wind to fill the Holy Spirit House of Prayer (the “Oratory”) in Monterey, California, where over 100 intercessors would come over the forty hours of prayer on Pentecost weekend.

The plan put on the hearts of those of us in leadership was that there should be 12 three-hour “Watches”, each Watch having and hour of led praise and worship to hear God’s heart, an hour of corporate intercession to pray and impart what was heard, and an hour of silence for individual prayer-work. In addition there were two special Masses during the 40 hours and a celebration of Pentecost Mass on Sunday afternoon.

Friday evening we waited in one accord for the Holy Spirit to come as 8^th Day Worship Ministry led us to the presence of God. The Holy Spirit did come – like the crest of a wave rising up over us, ready to move us forward, dispossessing us of our own agendas, washing away our worries, and purifying our hearts.

Stretching Your Mind to Greatness

A Person of True Beauty ~ By: Fr Peter C Sanders, Orat.

The one reflection of God’s character that makes a person truly beautiful is the virtue of magnanimity. This word has been repeatedly showing up on my radar screen in the last several months. St Paul says, "the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, trustfulness, gentleness and self-control" (Gal 5:22, NJB). Magnanimity could be considered a summation of all of those fruits, and gives witness to the fact that a person is really letting the Spirit take control. Magnanimous – what a beautiful way to be Christlike!

If you don't know what magnanimity is, relax, most people don't. It comes from the Latin, meaning "great soul." It really has a cluster of meanings: courageous, generosity, kindness, forgiving, gratefulness, strength – these all attest to whether or not a person is great at being Christlike and evokes the deepest meaning of beauty.

Magnanimity is categorized under the virtue of fortitude or strength. It has to do with a great heart, great thinking, great acts and taking care to always do what is worthy of honor, which attests to a person’s firm commitment to following through on moral commitments. A magnanimous person is worthy of high regard because of the way he or she fulfills great godly commitments. A person is dishonorable who doesn’t fulfill them. This is quite a stretch for many people. On the other hand the perversion of magnanimity is presumption, false ambition and vainglory. Would God want magnanimity be in your vocabulary? MORE . . .
